Power Purchase Irregularities Probe, Notice Issued to KCR

Hyderabad: The Justice Narasimha Reddy-led commission is investigating irregularities in power purchase agreements (PPAs) made during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) rule in Telangana. A notice has been issued to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to provide a detailed response regarding his involvement in these agreements by June 15.

  • KCR has requested an extension, seeking additional time until July 30 to submit his clarifications.
  • The investigation focuses on agreements related to the Yadadri and Damarcherla power plants and a proposed 1,000 MW power purchase from Chhattisgarh.

  • The commission has warned that if KCR’s response regarding potential irregularities in the PPAs with Chhattisgarh and the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects is unsatisfactory, a personal appearance process will be initiated.
