Asaduddin Owaisi Raises Concerns Over BRS-BJP ‘Merger,’ Kolhapur Attack, and Doda Attack

Asaduddin Owaisi’s concerns also align with his party’s warnings to the Pranab Mukherjee committee in 2008-09 about the BJP gaining strength if Telangana was formed.

Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president raised concerns about a potential merger or alliance between Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s concerns also align with his party’s warnings to the Pranab Mukherjee committee in 2008-09 about the BJP gaining strength if Telangana was formed.

  • Media Response: Owaisi’s comments came in response to media queries about BRS MLAs defecting to Congress. He referenced media reports and statements from former BRS MP B Vinod Kumar, who suggested that “anything is possible in politics.”
  • Defections: Owaisi refrained from commenting on the allegations of BRS legislators being paid to switch sides, distancing himself from the issue and directing queries to BRS leadership.

Kolhapur Vandalism

  • Blame on BJP: Owaisi blamed the BJP government in Maharashtra for recent attacks on mosques and minority homes in Kolhapur. He described the incidents as “terrorist attacks” where the Quran and prayer mats were burned, and homes were looted.
  • Government Inaction: He accused the Eknath Shinde-led BJP government of being passive and emboldening the perpetrators.

Terrorist Attacks in Doda

  • Criticism of Modi Government: Owaisi criticized the Modi government for failing to maintain law and order in Jammu and Kashmir following a terrorist attack in Doda that resulted in the deaths of four Army personnel.
