No Cricket Leagues Now, Unless BCCI Advise – Azharuddin

Hyderabad: Mohammed Azharuddin, president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) said the start of the new season will depend upon the situation and we must adhere to the State Government and BCCI instructions. We might even forgo the leagues this year. If the leagues are not conducted, then the best way is to select a pool of players and prepare them for the season.

“We will wait for the BCCI and the State Government guidelines before resuming the game. We need to be careful and follow the instructions. Therefore, under the circumstances, there cannot be any training camps.’’

“It is already June wherein the annual leagues would have started. It looks bleak to start next month also. It is a tricky situation”.

The other major problem in cricket now, according to Azharuddin, is use of sweat and saliva. “It is a matter of habit for the fielding side to use saliva to shine the ball, either by the bowler or fielder. It is practiced in training sessions and during the matches. We must find ways to stop this because of ICC’s new guidelines on use of the saliva,’’ he said.
