New Congress President to be Elected in June 2021

New Delhi: A new Congress party president to be elected in the month of June after five state elections.

KC Venugopal told media, The Congress Working Committee (CWC) the party’s top decision-making body has decided that there will be a new elected Congress president in the month June 202.

Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Mukul Wasnik and P Chidambaram (who have raised questions over the party’s leadership and in recent months after multiple election defeats) reportedly requested for the immediate congress party polls.

The next president will be chosen at a time the leadership of the Gandhi’s has come under unprecedented scrutiny and attacks within.

Sonia Gandhi, who took over as interim president in 2019 after her son Rahul Gandhi stepped down over the Congress’s national election drubbing in 2019, both of them made it clear that she is not in the running.
