Nepal Plane Crash During Takeoff at Khatmandu Airport, 19 Killed

Khatmandu, Nepal: A plane carrying 19 people crashed during takeoff from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. The crash, which occurred around 11:15 am local time, resulted in 18 fatalities, with only the pilot surviving. The pilot is currently receiving medical treatment.

A dramatic video has emerged showing the plane engulfed in flames after skidding off the runway. The flight, operated by Saurya Airlines, was en route to Pokhara. The aircraft caught fire after the runway incident, as reported by local news.

The European Union has banned Nepali carriers from its airspace due to safety concerns. Nepal’s challenging geography and unpredictable weather pose significant risks for aviation. This crash follows a recent history of major aviation incidents in Nepal, including a deadly Yeti Airlines crash in January and other notable disasters in previous years.
