NEET, JEE Exams Postponed to September 2020, HRD Ministry

New Delhi: The HRD Ministry on Friday postponed medical and engineering entrance exams NEET and JEE to September in view of the spike in COVID-19 cases.

“Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations.

The medical entrance exam National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was scheduled for July 26, while the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Mains for admission to engineering colleges was to be held from July 18-23.

JEE-Main examination will be held between September 1-6, while the JEE-advanced exam will be held on September 27. NEET examination will be held on September 13,” said Union HRD Minister.

JEE-Advanced, which is conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), was scheduled for August 23.

In view of the current situation arising from COVID-19 pandemic, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided that the JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION JEE (Main) April-2020 will now be held during (0l- 06) September 2020 from 09.00 AM to 12.00 noon in the first shift and from 03.00 PM to 06.00 PM in the second shift.

The dates of downloading of Admit Cards indicating Roll Number and Centre of Examination will be displayed 15 days before the conduct of examination on the official websites of NTA (www.nta.ac.in) and JEE(Main) (jeemain.nta.nic.in). 

On-demand from various candidates regarding correction in the Candidate Particulars and choice of Centre Cities in the Online Application Forms for JEE (Main) April-2020, it is also brought to the notice of all the candidates that the facility for correction in the Candidate Particulars in the Online Application Form including Choice of Centre Cities will be made operational on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in from 04/07/2020 to 15/07/2020*. The candidates are advised to visit the website and verify their and make necessary corrections wherever required.

The NTA will make efforts to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of the choices now opted by them in their Application Form, subject to the availability of capacity in the desired city.

However, due to administrative reasons, a different city may be allotted, and the decision of the NTA regarding allotment of Centre City shall be final.
