Nagarjuna Sagar Opens 22 Crest Gates to Manage Flooding, More Gates on Standby

Hyderabad: At the Nagarjuna Sagar Project, 22 of the 26 crest gates have been opened to discharge over three lakh cusecs of water due to upstream inflows. The project is currently maintaining a storage of 299 TMC out of its 312 TMC capacity, with a flood cushion of 10-12 TMC to manage unexpected rainfall. The reservoir level is at 585 feet, just below the full reservoir level of 590 feet. Additional gates are on standby to be opened if necessary.
