Motivational Speaker, Hotel Owner Booked for Inciting Hatred in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A case has been registered against Munawar Zama, a well-known motivational speaker, and Abdul Rasheed Basheer Ahmed and Rehman, the owner and manager of Metropolis Hotel in Hyderabad, for allegedly inciting religious violence. The charges are connected to an incident where an idol of the Goddess Muthyallama was desecrated at a temple in Secunderabad.

The Gopalapuram police booked them under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Section 299: Insulting religious feelings
  • Section 192: Provoking with intent to incite a riot
  • Section 196: Promoting hatred between different groups
  • Section 223: Disobeying Public Servant Orders
  • Section 49: Abetment to commit a crime

The complaint, filed by a sub-inspector, accuses Zama of encouraging enmity and provoking riots during a workshop at the Metropolis Hotel. One participant, Salman Salim Thakur, later damaged the idol at the temple, which led to his being beaten by a mob. He is now receiving treatment in a hospital.

The hotel has been sealed, and the police are reviewing conference materials and recordings.
