Hyderabad: MIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen) MLA’s on Tuesday boycotted the Telangana State Legislative Assembly in which it has unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the Indian government to give the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
At a time when chief minister KCR introduced a motion requesting Bharata Ratna for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in the state assembly on Tuesday, the MIM second largest party in the assembly boycotted the Assembly house.
MIM MLA and general secretary Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri said to media “Our party’s stand was clearly stated on the floor of the Assembly on February 15, 2005, when the then Chief Minister Dr YSR had moved the condolence resolution on the death of the former PM Narsimha Rao.
He further said, I may recall that our party’s floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had pointed out that the Muslims in India were still angry with the former PM over the demolition of Babri Masjid,”
MIM accused that “By remaining a silent observer to the demolition of Babri Masjid and by letting the construction of a makeshift temple on December 6, 1992, Narasimha Rao was accountable for the growth of Hindutva forces and majoritarian communalism directed against the Muslims in particular and minorities in general in the India in the last three decades.
MIM had earlier stated that it “could never forget the fact that it was during his regime that Babri Masjid at Ayodhya was demolished”.
“Simultaneously the MIM Legislative members have boycotted today’s proceedings in Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council during which the resolution was passed. Our Party Cannot Support resolution and discussion on Centenary Celebrations of Late PV Narasimha Rao.
