Khammam: In a horrific incident, a man allegedly killed his mother and two daughters in Gopalpet village, Tallada mandal, Khammam district on Saturday. The accused, Pittala Venkateshwarlu, reportedly strangled his mother, P. Pichamma (60), and his daughters, Neeraja (10) and Jhansi (6). He is also suspected of having killed his wife, Kanakadurga, who died under suspicious circumstances on May 31, 2022, though no case was filed at the time.
According to locals, after his wife’s death, Venkateshwarlu married another woman, Triveni, and moved to Khammam.
He had been pressuring his mother to transfer the ownership of her house and one acre of agricultural land to him. Pichamma, with the villagers’ assistance, had instead transferred the house to her granddaughters, whom she was caring for after their mother’s death. Half of the one-acre land was registered in Pichamma’s name and the other half in the children’s names, as her son was known to be a drunkard.
Angered by his mother’s actions, Venkateshwarlu allegedly committed the murders. The local police, informed by the villagers, visited the scene, registered a case, and launched an investigation. Two police teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
