Mumbai, 02 March: A 45-year-old driver man in Bhagya Nagar area of Bhiwandi in Maharashtra died shortly after getting a second dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.
Sukhdev Kirdat, a health worker, had taken his first dose on January 28 as a health worker. On 2nd March he fainted in an observation room around 15 minutes after taking the second dose. He was taken to the Indira Gandhi memorial hospital nearby, where he was declared dead.
Sukhdev was under hypertension treatment for three years. “Our doctor checked his blood pressure, which was normal,” said Dr K R Kharat, health officer.
According to doctors, “It is difficult to say what caused the death. There will be a post-mortem to establish that,”
Till February 25, 45 vaccine-related deaths have been reported since the drive began on January 16, says central government data. Health ministry officials pointed out deaths account for 0.0004% of the vaccinations.
