Hyderabad: A man named Yunus from Yakutpura, Hyderabad, died by suicide on September 7 due to alleged police harassment. Yunus, a resident of SRT Colony, faced harassment after his nephew eloped with a girl. In a video recorded before his death, Yunus stated that neither he nor his family knew the whereabouts of his nephew and the girl. He expressed his distress over the harassment and urged Yakutpura MLA Jaffer Hussain to support his family. Yunus’s daughter revealed that her cousin used her father’s vehicle to elope, leading to harassment by both the police and the girl’s mother. She also mentioned that Yunus had attempted suicide before due to the ongoing harassment. Following Yunus’s death, MLA Jaffer Hussain visited his residence and demanded strict action against the responsible police officials.
