Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, challenging them to extend the ongoing Assembly session to 15 days to discuss key public issues like farmers’ loan waivers, employment, and allegations against the BRS, including the Formula E controversy. Speaking at a meeting with BRS leaders from the Kodangal constituency, KTR accused the Congress of failing in its first year of governance and creating chaos in the state.
Key Highlights:
Challenge to Address Public Issues:
KTR demanded discussions on farmers, weavers, auto drivers, and Gurukul school students, emphasizing the Congress’ failure to deliver on promises.
Loan Waivers Criticized:
He alleged that crop loan waivers had only benefited 30% of farmers, contrary to the Congress’ claims of 100% implementation. He cited Kondareddypalli, Revanth Reddy’s native village, as an example of unfulfilled promises.
Lagacherla Industrial Corridor:
KTR accused the Congress of misusing the proposed corridor to grab farmers’ lands for personal gains, specifically targeting Revanth Reddy’s son-in-law and industrialist Gautam Adani. He questioned the Congress’ intentions, suggesting development of existing industrial lands instead.
Support for Farmers:
Demanding the release of arrested farmers from Lagacherla and withdrawal of cases against them, KTR vowed to advocate for their rights in the Assembly and beyond.
Governance Critique:
KTR alleged that the Congress government prioritized arrests over governance during Cabinet meetings and predicted Revanth Reddy’s downfall, beginning in Kodangal.
BRS’s Commitment:
He declared that former MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy would lead the fight to protect farmers’ interests in Kodangal and expressed confidence that voters would punish the Congress in upcoming local elections.
Prominent BRS leaders, including Sabita Indra Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, and others, attended the meeting.
