Hyderabad: A case has been registered against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for allegedly flying a drone without permission during his recent visit to the Medigadda barrage in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district. On July 26, Rama Rao, accompanied by a team of BRS leaders, visited the barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, to counter the Congress government and present facts to the public. The ruling Congress and BRS have been exchanging accusations over the damage to some piers of the Medigadda barrage, an issue that has persisted since last year’s Legislative Assembly polls.
The National Dam Safety Authority found in November last year that the Medigadda barrage had been severely compromised, requiring full rehabilitation. After inspecting the flood intensity of the River Godavari, Rama Rao posted drone visuals on social media platform X.
Following a complaint by Vali Shaik, a case was registered against Rama Rao and two former BRS legislators on July 29 under sections 223 B r/w 3 (5) of BNS (disobedience). BRS sources claim that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had previously dismissed the issue of flying drones as trivial, suggesting the case will not be taken seriously.
