K Kavitha Granted Bail by Supreme Court in Delhi Liquor Policy Case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court granted bail to BRS leader K Kavitha on Tuesday in a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy scam. Kavitha, daughter of BRS chief and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had been denied bail by the Delhi High Court on July 1. The court found substantial evidence suggesting her involvement as a chief conspirator in the formation and execution of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. Her initial bail pleas were rejected by a special court on May 6, prompting her to appeal to the High Court.

Kavitha was first arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15 from her Hyderabad residence and brought to Delhi. Subsequently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested her on April 11 while she was in Tihar Jail.
