End of PM Benjamin Netanyahu 12Y Rule in Israel, Naftali Bennett New PM

Jerusalem: Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year term as Israel’s prime minister ended on Sunday with parliament approving a new “government of change” led by nationalist Naftali Bennett.

Naftali Bennett, parliament voted confidence in his new administration by a razor-thin 60-59 majority.

Under a coalition deal, Bennett will be replaced as prime minister by centrist Yair Lapid, 57, in 2023.

The coalition government included the parties and their leaders are

  1. United Arab List party leader Mansour Abbas,
  2. Labour party leader Merav Michaeli,
  3. Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz,
  4. Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid,
  5. Yamina party leader Naftali Bennett,
  6. New Hope party leader Gideon Saar, Y
  7. israel Beitenu party leader Avigdor Lieberman and
  8. Meretz party leader Nitzan

Heading into opposition, Benjamin Netanyahu,  the most dominant Israeli politician of his generation, pledged he would soon return to power.
