The IPL (Indian Premier League) Governing Council met on 2nd August via video-conference due to CoronaVirus pandemic to decide on the issues regarding the IPL 2020 edition.
Taking note of the current CoronaVirus situation in India, the IPL Governing council has decided to phase the IPL 2020 53-day tournament to be hosted in Sharjah, Dubai, , and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
IPL 2020, the 53-day tournament schedule will see the 10-afternoon matches starting at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time while the late afternoon matches will start at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time from 19th September and Final match to be played on 10th November.
The Governing Council of Indian Premier League also talked about the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which will be finalized and published at the appropriate time.
Chennai Super Kings (IPL Champion in 2010, 2011 and 2018), Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL Champion in 2012 and 2014), Mumbai Indians (IPL Champion in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019), Rajasthan Royals (IPL Champion in 2008), Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (IPL Champion in 2016 and in 2008 as Deccan Chargers) are the eight Indian Premier league teams to be played in United Arab Emirates.
The UAE schedules which is first time outside the country are subject to the required permissions from BCCI and the Government of India and the United Arab Emirates authorities.
Original schedule of Indian premier League was from 29 March – 24 May 2020 was postponed twice, first on 13th April it was postponed up to 15th and second time on 16th April it was postponed till further notice due to CoronaVirus pandemic.
