Dubai Based Indian Businessman Arrested for Visiting Libya at Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad: A Dubai-based Indian businessman, Syed Haji Ismail was arrested by Hyderabad Airport (RGIA) police for traveling to Libya.

Syed Haji Ismail, a native of Kalburgi in Karnataka, went to Libya on July 22 from Dubai Via Istanbul and stayed there till July 9

The government of India had issued an order in 2016 imposing a ban on the travel to Libya by of Indian national’s further orders. Syed Haji Ismail visited Libya and violated the Indian government orders.

Syed Haji Ismail, arrived at the Hyderabad Airport (RGIA) on Tuesday, immigration authorities while checking his passport found that he had visited Libya and informed the RGIA police, and he was arrested and booked a case under IPC section 188 and section 12 of the Passport Act,” said RGI Airport inspector P Vijay Kumar.

Haji told police that he has been operating a computer hardware business with a Saudi national in West Asia and travels to various countries for work. “A businessman from Libya had to pay about Rs 1 crore to Haji and as he kept postponing payment, Haji went to Libya to meet him. He said he was unaware of the ban and had previously visited Libya before the ban,” police said.
