ICICI Bank, Tata Memorial Centre Launch Advanced Cancer Care Block in Andhra Pradesh

ICICI Bank, in partnership with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has laid the foundation stone for a major new cancer care facility—the ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer—at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam. This initiative is part of a broader CSR commitment by ICICI Bank to enhance healthcare infrastructure in India.

Funding & Scale:

  • ICICI Bank is committing ₹550 crore towards this facility.
  • This is part of its expanded ₹1,800 crore contribution to TMC for new cancer care blocks in Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and New Chandigarh.
  • The new eight-storey building will span 3.9 lakh sq. ft., making it one of the largest child and blood cancer treatment facilities in eastern India.

 Facility Features:

  • Capacity to serve 3,000 patients annually, supplementing the current HBCHRC capacity of 6,200.
  • Over 215 beds, including:
    • 14 Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) rooms
    • 14 ICU beds
    • 5 Operating Theatres
  • Advanced diagnostics: 3 LINACs, MRI, and CVT-PET scan units.
  • Facilities for immunotherapy, CAR-T cell therapy, intensive chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
  • Equipped with research labs, training zones, and clinical discussion rooms.

Timeline & Oversight:

  • The project is expected to be completed by 2027, pending regulatory clearances.
  • ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the bank’s CSR wing, will supervise construction and implementation.
