Hyderabad Wakes-up with Rain; IMD Forecasts More Rain Today

Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad woke up to rain and a cloudy sky today, with the IMD Hyderabad forecasting more downpours. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and a red alert for several other districts in the state.

IMD Hyderabad Forecasts Extremely Heavy Rainfall

The IMD has issued a red alert for several districts in Telangana due to the expectation of extremely heavy rainfall, which is predicted to continue into Sunday. For Hyderabad, the alert is only in effect for today. The city is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers, with occasional intense spells accompanied by gusty winds.

Monsoon So Far

During the current south-west monsoon season, the state has received 313.2 mm of rainfall, compared to the normal 257.6 mm, marking a 22 percent deviation. Jogulamba Gadwal district has seen the highest deviation at 86 percent, receiving 263.7 mm of rainfall against the normal 141.5 mm. Hyderabad has recorded 238.1 mm of rain, a 15 percent increase over the normal 206.6 mm. The predicted rainfall is likely to further increase the state’s rainfall deviation.
