Hyderabad: Ahead of Independence Day, the Hyderabad police have heightened security measures across the city. The Afzalgunj police, led by DCP (East) B. Balaswamy, conducted anti-sabotage checks at the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) on Tuesday. The checks included the deployment of sniffer dogs, anti-sabotage teams, and bomb disposal squads to inspect the bus terminal. Suspicious baggage and objects were thoroughly examined, and some buses and parking lots were also checked.
Similar security checks are being carried out across different areas of Hyderabad, with intensified vehicle inspections and frisking of people on the roads. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious items or activities.
In preparation for the Independence Day event at Golconda Fort, where Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will hoist the national flag, the police are conducting a sanitization drill. Additionally, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff are working to remove stray dogs from the vicinity, and snake catchers have been deployed to ensure the safety of the area.
