Hyderabad Old City Metro Expansion and Compensation Cheques Distribution from 6th January

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project in the Old City is set to begin with the distribution of compensation cheques for 41 affected properties on January 6, 2025, at the Hyderabad district collector’s office. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi will oversee the event. The affected properties along the MGBS-Chandrayangutta route (Corridor-6) will be compensated at ₹81,000 per square yard, with additional support for rehabilitation under the Relief and Rehabilitation Act. The second phase, covering 76.4 km across five corridors, will cost ₹24,269 crore, funded by state and central governments, multilateral loans, and private investments. Once completed, the metro network will expand to 115.4 km, improving connectivity and boosting ridership by 8 lakh passengers daily.
