Hyderabad Doctor Arrested by Kerala Police for Role in International Kidney Racket

Hyderabad: A doctor from Hyderabad has been arrested by Kerala police for his alleged involvement in an international kidney trafficking network. The arrest followed the detention of Sabit Nasir at Kochi International Airport, who had arrived from Iran. Nasir’s apprehension stemmed from a complaint by the family of a victim who died after his kidney was removed and sold.

Ernakulam Rural SP Vaibhav Saxena, leading the investigation, confirmed Nasir’s arrest and his confession to managing an underground kidney sale network. Nasir disclosed that the operation involved three individuals, including a well-known Hyderabad doctor. Following this revelation, Kerala police conducted further investigations in Hyderabad, resulting in the doctor’s arrest. The doctor’s identity remains undisclosed as the investigation continues.

Nasir’s confession also revealed that approximately 40 young individuals from Hyderabad and Bengaluru were taken to Iran with promises of substantial monetary rewards for their kidneys. Although organ donation from unrelated donors is legal in Iran, the victims were promised up to Rs 20 lakh but were only paid Rs 6 lakh.
