Hyderabad: On August 2, a delegation of Gulf NRIs met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the Assembly to advocate for a budget allocation dedicated to Gulf NRI welfare. The delegation, which included TPCC NRI Cell Chairman and former Ambassador Dr. B. Vinod Kumar, TPCC Gulf NRI Cell Convenor M. Bheem Reddy, and several MLAs, requested the establishment of a Gulf NRI Welfare Board with a Rs 500 crore budget. They also sought financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for families of NRI workers who have died in Gulf countries.
The delegation comprised TPCC Working President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Satyam, Dharmapuri MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar, and GWAC President Krishna Dhonikeni. Both Congress and BJP MLAs recently raised concerns about Gulf NRI workers during the Telangana Assembly session.
