Govt Lifts Ban on Govt. Employees Joining RSS Activities; RSS Welcomes, Congress Condemns the Decision

New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has welcomed a move by the Modi government to lift the ban on central government employees participating in RSS activities. The original 1966 ban was criticized by the RSS as politically motivated, and they argued that lifting it would strengthen India’s democratic system. Sunil Ambekar of the RSS emphasized the organization’s long-standing contributions to national security and societal service.

Conversely, the Congress party condemned the decision, asserting that it undermines India’s unity and integrity. Senior Congress leaders, including Pawan Khera, expressed their disapproval on social media, pointing out that the ban had been in place for 58 years. The BJP, on the other hand, deemed the original ban unconstitutional.

Several senior Congress leaders took to X and posted a copy of this “order”.

“58 years ago, the Central Government had imposed a ban on government employees taking part in the activities of the RSS. Modi govt has withdrawn the order,” said senior Congress leader Pawan Khera on X.
