New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the Narendra Modi government on Sunday for alleged irregularities in national competitive exams, including NEET-UG, accusing it of handing over the education system to the “mafia” and the “corrupt.”
Her remarks followed the Union Education Ministry’s decision to establish a panel to review the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts these exams, and suggest reforms.
On Saturday, the Centre also removed NTA Director General Subodh Singh and assigned the investigation into the NEET-UG irregularities to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Today this is the condition of some of the biggest examinations in the country. Under the BJP rule, the entire education system has been handed over to the mafia and the corrupt. The political stubbornness and arrogance of handing over the country’s education and the future of the children to greedy and sycophantic incompetent people has made paper leaks, cancellation of exams, disappearance of education from campuses and political hooliganism the identity of our education system. The situation has become such that the BJP government cannot conduct even an examination in a fair manner. Today, the BJP government has become the single biggest hurdle in front of the future of the youth. The capable youth of the country are wasting their precious time and energy in fighting the corruption of the BJP and the helpless Modi ji is just watching the spectacle.
New Delhi: In response to widespread protests and opposition criticism, the Centre has dismissed Subodh Kumar Singh, the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam.
Retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pradeep Singh Kharola has been appointed as his interim replacement. Mr. Kharola, who currently serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation, will assume the role of Director General of the NTA until a permanent replacement is appointed or further notice is issued.
