Hyderabad: The immersion of Ganesh idols in Hyderabad began with vibrant and colorful processions, filling the city streets with religious fervor. Devotees, charged with festive energy, danced, sang, and celebrated around their idols, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of ‘dappu’ drums, creating a lively atmosphere.
Various youth and colony welfare associations that had set up Ganesh pandals led these vibrant processions to immersion sites at lakes and ponds such as Safilguda, Saroornagar, NTR Ghat, Sunnam Cheruvu, IDL, and Kapra. Smaller idols were carried in auto trolleys and DCM vans, while larger idols, over 14 feet in height, were transported on specially customized vehicles using tractors to nearby lakes for immersion.
To manage the high turnout of devotees, civic authorities deployed cranes at major immersion sites to ensure a smooth process. The areas around the water bodies were illuminated with LED lights for the convenience of the participants. With tight security in place, the immersion process is proceeding efficiently. As Anantha Chaturdashi, the concluding day of Ganesh Chaturthi, approaches, the festive atmosphere is expected to continue.
