Hyderabad: After weeks of raids on restaurants, the Telangana Food Safety Department has expanded its focus to include hostels and PGs (Paying Guest hostels), conducting inspections in the Madhapur area on Sunday, June 16. These raids revealed numerous food safety and hygiene violations:
Sri Lakshmi PG Hostel, Kavuri Hills:
- Operating without an FSSAI license.
- Vegetables infested with pests.
- Rusted dosa pan and unhygienic work area.
- Improper storage of rice and dals alongside mattresses.
- Spot tests for water and tomato sauce showed acceptable parameters.
- Suspicion of adulteration in loose chilli powder and Bengal gram samples.
VG Homestay, Madhapur:
- Also lacking an FSSAI license.
- Use of food colors and rusted dosa tawa.
- Unsanitary conditions of raw materials, vegetables, and refrigerators.
- Workers without hairnets.
- Spot tests for drinking water, vinegar, chilli sauce, and tomato sauce showed acceptable parameters.
- Suspicion of adulteration in loose chilli powder.
Narayana Society, Sy No. 11/20, Madhapur:
- Found expired products like white gravy (2kg) and chopp masala (2kg).
- No Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) supervisor among staff.
- Unhygienic and rusted dosa pan.
- Multiple hygiene issues in the kitchen area, including an untidy grinding area.
- Unhygienic conditions in open drainage, garbage storage area, and wash area.
Narayana Medical Academy, Sy No. 11/51, Madhapur:
- Operating without an FSSAI license.
- No FOSTAC supervisor among employees.
- Rusted base of water dispensers and unclean serving area.
