Four Indians, Including Two from Hyderabad, Burnt Alive in Texas USA Carpool Crash

New Delhi: Four Indians tragically died in a multi-vehicle crash in Texas, USA, while carpooling through an app. The victims were identified as Aryan Raghunath Orampati, Farooq Shaik, Lokesh Palacharla, and Darshini Vasudevan. They were en route to Bentonville, Arkansas, when a speeding truck rear-ended their SUV, causing it to burst into flames. All occupants were burned to death.

The victims were traveling for different reasons: Orampati and Shaik were returning from a visit to Dallas; Palacharla was going to meet his wife; and Vasudevan, a Master’s graduate from the University of Texas, was visiting her uncle. Authorities identified the victims through carpooling app records but are relying on DNA testing for confirmation due to the severe burns.

Orampati’s parents, who had urged him to return to India after his convocation in May, are devastated. Shaik, who completed his Master’s recently, moved to the US three years ago. Vasudevan’s family has appealed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for assistance.

The identification process is delayed due to a long weekend in the US, adding to the families’ anguish.
