After Owaisi and Public Backlash, Food Delivery, Zomato, Swiggy to be Allowed in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After public criticism on city police’s unnecessary crackdown on food delivery boys and stopping food delivery service in the city on Saturday, Telangana home minister Mahmood Ali and state director general of Police M. Mahender Reddy late on Saturday night said that they held meetings with top police officials due to the disruption of essential services.

M Mahender Reddy, DGP Telangana, tweeted as

“Held review meeting with the three Commissioners of Police regarding several requests flagged with disruption of essential services including food deliveries while tightening lockdown. Directed to ensure a seamless supply ahead while executing strict lockdown,”

On Saturday Hyderabad police had detained the vehicles and stopped the food delivery boys Saturday.

However, towards evening the police had released a majority of the vehicles.

G.O on lockdown in Telangana clearly states that food delivery is permitted. Why are delivery personnel being detained then?  They must be released along with their vehicles immediately. These are poor youths trying to get by, if the govt has decided to not allow food delivery, then please amend the GO. Till such an amendment is made, food delivery personnel should not be stopped
