Khammam: A tragic incident occurred in Bhadrachalam where a five-year-old girl, Riyanshika, died after a pen pierced her head. While playing with a pen at home, she accidentally fell from a cot, causing the pen to perforate the temporal region near her left ear. She was initially taken to the Government Area Hospital at Bhadrachalam and later transferred to a private hospital in Khammam. A neurosurgeon removed the pen, but an infection developed post-surgery, leading to her death on Wednesday. Her father, Manikanta, a mechanic, spent over Rs 2 lakh in an attempt to save her. The community gathered to console Manikanta and his wife Swaroopa, who were devastated by the loss.
