Hyderabad: Five friends between the ages of 23 and 25 years and residents of Hyderabad on their way to Nagarjuna Sagar died when their car slammed into an HMWSSB pipeline near Chinthapally mandal in Nalgonda in the early hours of Friday.
Police identified the deceased victims as S Nagendra, Bhaskar, V Bharath, Srinu and Srikanth Reddy all between the ages of 23 and 25 years and residents of Malakpet, Balapur and LB Nagar.
“They were driving too fast and driving recklessly. Nagendra who was driving the car lost control of the vehicle and slammed into an HMWSSB pipeline,” said Madgul inspector P Saidulu. The accident occurred around 6.30 am on Friday.
“All five victims died at the scene. Car they were travelling through was totally damaged. Due to the impact on the front portion of the car, the bodies were stuck within and it took hours to retrieve them,” said the officer.
According to the police, except for Nagendra who was driving the car, no one were wearing seat belt. A case was filed under IPC Section 304 -A, causing death by negligence.
