FIR Against Former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar & Others for 1000 Cr GST Violations

Hyderabad: Central Crime Station (CCS) police have registered a case against former Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and two senior officials from the Commercial Tax Department for alleged GST violations amounting to over ₹1,000 crores. The forensic investigation revealed that proprietary data from the Commercial Tax Department was transferred to an unauthorized third party.

Additionally, the FIR names Sobhan Kumar, a professor from IIT Hyderabad, and Pilanto Technologies Pvt Ltd. The complaint, lodged on July 26 by K Ravi Kanuri, Joint Commissioner (CT), Central Computer Wing, Nampally, uncovered over ₹400 crores in tax evasion through a preliminary investigation of 11 cases masked by IIT Hyderabad.

The allegations against Somesh Kumar and others include granting unauthorized access to proprietary data, masking taxpayers’ data, and overlooking discrepancies in IGST reports, leading to significant revenue losses.

Forensic Findings: A forensic investigation revealed that proprietary data from the Commercial Tax Department was transferred to an unauthorized third party.

Additional Accused: The FIR also names Sobhan Kumar, a professor from IIT Hyderabad, and Pilanto Technologies Pvt Ltd.

Complaint Lodging: The complaint was lodged on July 26 by K Ravi Kanuri, Joint Commissioner (CT), Central Computer Wing, Nampally.
