Farmers Protest Escalates, Today Hunger Strike across INDIA

New DelhiAs farmers protest escalate against the Farm laws (new agricultural laws), all leaders of farmers’ organizations who are camping near Delhi borders since late November are on a hunger strike today.

Farmers have planned demonstrations and hunger strike across India.

This is the second nationwide protest in less than a week.

Earlier, nationals’ highways were blocked on last Tuesday as a part of national shutdown.

Even Though a few rounds of talks with the government, farmers have said the protest will continue till the new farm laws are canceled.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday he will join farmers and fast along with them. “I will hold a one-day fast tomorrow in support of farmers’ protests. He appeals to AAP volunteers to join in. Centre should immediately accept all demands of farmers protesting the laws and bring a bill to guarantee MSP (minimum support price).”

The farmers’ call to intensify the agitation came on Saturday, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured: “Reforms will help draw investment in agriculture and benefit farmers.”
