Fake News on CM KCR, Editor of Telugu Newspaper Booked and Picked by Police

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police have register a case against the editor of a Telugu Vernacular Daily on charges of publishing false information about the health status of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and spreading rumors.

The case was booked following a complaint made by one Mohammed illyas, a resident of Rahmathnagar in Jubilee Hills police station area.

In his complaint, Mohammed illyas said the newspaper had published a fake news report on the health status of the Chief Minister resulting in rumors in the State. He demanded action against the publication and the editor.

Based on the complaint, Acting on the complaint Jubilee Hills police have registered a case under IPC sections 505(2), 505(b) (To cause fear or alarm among the public by any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or against the public tranquility)

Venkateshwar Rao later informed the friends that he had been picked up by the Hyderabad police who were questioning him about his background. Later, the police booked a case against him.

It is not immediately known whether he was arrested or would be formally arrested.
