Mumbai: Devendra Fadnavis is officially set to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time. He will take his oath at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan tomorrow, marking a significant step for the BJP-led coalition in the state. The decision was finalized today by the BJP leadership and subsequently approved by newly elected legislators.
This comes after the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s massive victory in the recent state elections. Preparations for the grand oath ceremony are underway at Azad Maidan. Earlier, Mr. Fadnavis, accompanied by Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, met with Governor CP Radhakrishnan to stake their claim to form the government.
During the BJP legislators’ meeting, Mr. Fadnavis expressed gratitude for being chosen as the legislature party leader. Acknowledging the support of the BJP’s 132 MLAs, he also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing the alliance’s success to Modi’s leadership and the ‘double engine’ government’s development agenda. He credited the Mahayuti’s triumph to the PM’s slogan, “Ek hain to safe hain,” which resonated with voters.
