Hyderabad: In a tragic incident in Yakutpura, Hyderabad, a fire engulfed the home of a couple, Mohan Lal (55) and his wife Usha (50), claiming their lives. The fire began while they were cooking in their first-floor kitchen, but quickly intensified when firecrackers stored in the residence ignited. Their 15-year-old granddaughter, Shruti, sustained severe injuries and is receiving treatment at a private hospital.

In a separate fire on Sunday night, a firecracker shop in the Boggalakunta area of Abids, Hyderabad, also caught fire. Though there were no fatalities, a woman sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital. The blaze spread to a nearby hotel and destroyed at least 10 two-wheelers. Three fire engines were dispatched to control the flames.
