Election Commission’s Action on Raja Singh, MLA to be Booked for Threatening UP Voters

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) instructed Telangana Chief Electoral Officer to take legal action and register a case against BJP MLA T Raja Singh for his impugned statements.

According to ECI Secretary Ajoy Kumar, ECI also prohibited him from holding any public meetings, processions, rallies, roadshows, and interviews for 72 hours from 6 pm on Saturday.

The Election Commission was of the view that Gosha Mahal MLA, Raja Singh has violated various provisions of IPC and Representation of People Act and ‘General Conduct’ of “Model Code of Conduct for the guidance of Political Parties and Candidates” by making the impugned statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ECI asked MLA, Raja Singh, to provide his reply within 24 hours. And no response has been received from Raja Singh or his advocate in the stipulated time.

In a short video released on Tuesday, Singh said: “I want to make it clear to those traitors who don’t want Yogi Adityanath to become the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Yogi will identify them after the elections and they must know what bulldozers are used for. They must chant Yogi… Yogi… or else they will have to run from Uttar Pradesh.”
