Degree Students may be Promoted in Telangana, Final Decision by CM KCR

 This is to be expected to be done based on the score obtained by students in their previous semester examinations.

Hyderabad: Given the current coronavirus situation the exams cannot be held, Therefore, a proposal to promote intermediate semester students besides passing final year students based on earlier semester and promoting all the students.

Degree exams will not be conducted in Telangana and the first and second-year students will be promoted in next year’s class, while the degree final year students will be passed based on marks obtained by them in the 5 semesters and internals. This is likely to be done based on the score obtained by students in their earlier semester examinations, with final year students passed over their degrees and students in the intermediate semester promoted to the next semester. 

Maybe to Consider for The Professional Courses, Postgraduate also.

This option is being worked out for the conventional degree courses and could be extended to professional courses including engineering and pharmacy, among others. This proposal to cancel the exams may also be extended to PG courses. Earlier, it was planned to hold examinations for the final year students of both UG and PG courses.

Education Minister Discussed with Officials

On Thursday, Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy convened a high-level meeting to review the examinations for the academic year 2019-20 and to prepare an action plan for conducting academics in the next year 2020-21. This was proposed in a meeting carried out by the Education Minister with the officials of Telangana Council for higher education in which the above matter was discussed and suggestions were sought from the officials. 

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Special Chief Secretary to Government (Education) Chitra Ramachandran, Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, TSCHE vice-chairman-I, Prof R Limbadri, TSCHE vice-chairman-II Prof V Venkata Ramana, Navin Mittal, Papi Reddy, Syed Omar Jaleel, and other University officials were present on the occasion.

 The proposal to promote UG students without exams was discussed at length and it was agreed in principle, sources revealed.

A formula may be worked out for the same,” sources clarified, adding that a final decision will have to be taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Fresh Academic Year

A fresh academic year for intermediate semester students is being planned after August 15 and for newly admitted students, it is likely to commence in the first week of September. However, this plan will be subject to situations prevailing then.
