Kothagudem: Vishnu, a second-year degree student was beaten to death by a group of Intermediate second-year students at Indira Nagar Colony in Paloncha mandal in the district on Saturday.

Vishnu had a longstanding enmity with the Intermediate students of the same college.

Events Leading Up to the Incident:

• An altercation occurred between Vishnu and the Intermediate students in the evening.
• A college lecturer intervened, temporarily dispersing both groups.
• Later, the Intermediate students attacked Vishnu while he was near the college.

Outcome:

• Vishnu’s relatives found him being attacked and took him to a local government hospital, where he was declared dead.
• The Paloncha rural police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint and initiated an investigation.
• Five accused have been identified but are currently at large.
