Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against three Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, on charges of conspiracy and corruption. The accused include two former Superintendents and one Inspector of Customs.
Incident Details:
- On March 16, 2024, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at RGIA intercepted two private individuals, including a loader from two private companies, while they were exchanging foreign currency equivalent to ₹2,93,425 for Indian currency with two residents of Bahadurpura, Hyderabad, who were carrying Indian currency worth ₹4,04,380.
- The foreign currency, originating from various countries, was allegedly provided by the three accused Customs officials. These officials are suspected of obtaining the currency from international passengers in exchange for not imposing or reducing customs duty.
Investigation and Searches:
- The CBI conducted searches at four locations, three in Hyderabad and one in Delhi, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents.
- The investigation into the case is ongoing.
