Corning Sign MoU with Telangana on Skilling and Innovation Initiatives

USA/Hyderabad: Materials science giant Corning Incorporated signed an MoU with the Telangana government to collaborate on skilling and innovation initiatives. The MoU aims to design and implement programs to skill the local workforce in advanced manufacturing and chemical engineering technologies. The agreement was formalized in a meeting between Corning Senior Vice President Ronald Verkleeren and the Telangana delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

Corning will also enhance its partnership in the Flow Chemistry Technology (FCT) hub, a collaborative initiative with the State government, Dr. Reddy’s Limited, Laurus Pharma Limited, and the University of Hyderabad. They introduced their Advanced-Flow Reactors (AFR) technology and committed to developing flow chemistry technology in the state. Additionally, Corning announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical glass tubing facility in Telangana, set to begin production by mid-2025.

In the field of materials science, the globally renowned company “Corning Incorporated” has come forward to develop new innovations in Telangana. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government to develop new technological innovations in partnership with various companies.

  • As part of their visit to America, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu officially signed the memorandum of understanding documents after discussions with a delegation from Corning led by Emerging Innovations Group Senior Vice President Ronald Verkleeren.
  • Corning will partner in transforming Telangana into a hub for advanced research and development in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. They held discussions on establishing a pharmaceutical glass tube manufacturing center in Telangana, with plans to commence commercial production from 2025.
  • Corning will also collaborate in the Flow Chemistry Technology (FCT) hub managed by Dr. Reddy’s Limited and Laurus Pharma Limited, in cooperation with the Telangana government and Hyderabad University. The company will provide necessary support for innovations in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as in flow chemistry technology.
  • Company representatives explained the newly introduced Advanced Flow Reactors technology to the delegation led by the Chief Minister.
  • This advanced glass tube manufacturing center will contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical sector. These glass tubes will be used in the drug packaging industry, with the company employing innovative Velocity Glass-Coating technology for their production.
  • The new facility is expected to further improve productivity in the rapidly expanding pharmaceutical sector in Telangana.
