Congress, INDIA May Reach TDP, JDU for Government Formation

New Delhi: The current political scenario in India seems to be leaning towards a potential shift in power dynamics. With the INDIA bloc considering its options for government formation, the possibility of reaching out to former allies like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU) is being discussed. Although the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) holds a slim majority with 292 seats compared to the INDIA bloc’s 232, the INDIA bloc is not far behind and could potentially garner additional support.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have indicated that decisions regarding alliances and government formation will be made in consultation with their alliance partners. They are set to discuss strategies and potential alliances at an upcoming meeting, emphasizing the importance of respecting the opinions of all partners.

Hints have been dropped about the possibility of new partners joining the alliance, with Kharge mentioning discussions with potential allies to explore avenues for gaining a majority. Reports suggest that members of the INDIA camp, including Sharad Pawar, have reached out to leaders like Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar, although Pawar has refuted these claims.

The TDP-BJP alliance formed just before the elections, has raised speculation about Naidu potentially shifting allegiance if it benefits him politically. Similarly, Nitish Kumar’s recent association with the Congress and his previous role in the creation of the INDIA bloc before rejoining the NDA in January adds complexity to the political landscape.

Overall, the situation is fluid, with alliances and power dynamics potentially undergoing significant changes in the coming days as discussions and negotiations unfold.
