Colonel Santosh Babu’s Wife Appointed as Tax Officer in Telangana

Martyred Colonel Santosh Babu’s wife Santoshi has been appointed as a commercial tax officer in Telangana. State chief secretary Somesh Kumar released the orders Monday night. Santoshi has to report to the commissioner of the concerned department within 30 days. The government has also provided her an opportunity to pick and choose the post of her choice. 

Earlier, It is already known that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has visited the Colonel’s residence in Suryapet on Monday. He paid floral tributes to the martyred army officer and enquired about the well-being of his children. He then handed over the financial package to the family.

Consoling the parents, wife and children of the martyred Colonel Santosh babu at their Vidyanagar residence in Suryapet, the Chief Minister, as announced earlier, personally handed over the promised financial package of Rs 5 crore, an appointment letter to Santosh Babu’s wife Santoshi offering a Group-1 job and documents of a house site in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister, who traveled by road and reached their residence at around 3.40 pm, first paid floral tributes to Santosh Babu’s portrait. He was accompanied by Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, and other elected representatives and officials.

Stating that Santosh Babu’s death had upset him deeply, KCR assured the family that the government would extend all the assistance provided to them at all times and asked the family members to contact him whenever they needed any help. He asked Minister Jagadish Reddy to remain in contact with them and extend all possible help.

The CM gave away Rs 4 crore cheque, an appointment order of a group 1 post, and the papers of 711 square yards of land near KBR Park in Banjara Hills to Santoshi. He also handed over Rs 1 crore cheque to the Santosh Babu’s parents. Colonel Santosh Babu who was the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar infantry battalion of the Indian Army was dead in a skirmish with Chinese troops at Galwan valley on the night of June 15.

Speaking to the media after the CM’s visit, Santoshi, along with her mother-in-law Manjula, thanked CM KCR for his kind gesture. She said the Chief Minister’s soothing words gave her and her family great strength during these troubled times. The Chief Minister also invited her family to Pragathi Bhavan CMs official residence after completing the formalities and rituals of Santosh Babu, she said.

Jagadish Reddy said as per the directions of the Chief Minister, a bronze statue of Santosh Babu would be erected near the old bus stand and the court complex junction. He said the junction would be named after the brave officer.
