Colleges Run by BRS MLA Gets HYDRA Notices for Alleged Constructions on Lake

Hyderabad: HYDRA are intensifying their efforts against unauthorized constructions by issuing notices to educational institutions linked to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy. The notices target two colleges—the MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) and the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering—located in Dundigal, Medchal Malkajgiri district, which are accused of being built illegally within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and Buffer Zone of Chinna Damaracheruvu Lake.

These institutions are part of a network run by the family of BRS leader Malla Reddy, who is the father-in-law of Rajasekhar Reddy. The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) is overseeing the crackdown on encroachments affecting water bodies, parks, and open lands, as part of an ongoing drive. This follows recent actions against other politicians’ properties, including BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, whose Anurag University was alleged to have been built in a similar protected zone.

HYDRA’s current focus includes educational institutions like those run by Rajasekhar Reddy and other leaders. The agency has previously demolished illegal structures from various influential figures, reclaiming 43 acres of land from encroachments on lakes. Despite ongoing demolitions, HYDRA has been receiving requests from parents to delay any action against educational institutions to avoid disrupting students’ academic activities.

In response to the notices, the colleges have been given 15 days to provide explanations or make alternative arrangements for their operations. Failure to comply may result in further action. The municipal authorities have already previously addressed some illegal constructions around Chinna Damaracheruvu Lake.

Overall, the authorities’ actions are part of a broader initiative to protect water bodies and enforce regulatory compliance, with significant attention given to properties linked to prominent political figures.
