Orange Alert Issued for Cold Wave in Telangana: Temperatures May Drop to 5°C

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued its first orange alert for the winter season, warning of a severe cold wave likely to affect multiple districts in Telangana. The cold wave is expected to bring minimum temperatures as low as 5°C, lasting until Sunday.

Key Points:

Orange Alert Issued: An orange alert indicates the likelihood of a severe cold wave, urging residents, especially in vulnerable districts, to take precautions.

Affected Districts: Northern districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Mancherial, and Nirmal, are expected to experience the sharpest drops in temperature.

Temperature Trends: On Wednesday, Adilabad recorded the lowest temperature at 7°C, while other areas like Nirmal, Medak, and Sangareddy also reported temperatures below 10°C.

Causes: According to Telangana weatherman T. Balaji, clear skies and strong surface-level winds are contributing to the steep drop in night temperatures in these regions.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions due to the expected severe cold conditions.
