CM Revanth Reddy Forms Cabinet Sub-Committee for Hyderabad Development

Hyderanad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the formation of a cabinet sub-committee led by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka to drive Hyderabad’s development into a world-class city. This initiative will involve an all-party meeting and policy contributions from BRS, BJP, and intellectuals to shape a comprehensive development strategy.

Foundation Stones Laid for Major Projects
During the “Praja Palana Vajrotsavalu” event on December 3, CM Revanth virtually inaugurated developmental projects worth ₹3,666.50 crore and initiated works valued at over ₹3,446 crore.
Focus Areas for Hyderabad’s Growth

Musi River Rejuvenation: A ₹1.5 lakh crore plan over the next four years includes revitalizing the Musi River and related infrastructural improvements.
Future City Project: The government aims to create a modern urban hub with allocated land for rehabilitation projects along the Musi River.
Water Supply & Metro Rail Expansion: Revanth requested ₹35,000 crore each for Hyderabad Metro Rail’s extension, construction of regional and radial roads, and improving water infrastructure.
Requests to Central Leadership

CM Revanth called on BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao and Union Minister Kishan Reddy to submit development plans and secure funds.
Specific funding requests to the Centre included ₹10,000 crore under the PMAY, ₹25,000 crore for the Musi Riverfront Development Project, and other contributions for metro and road projects.
Challenge to Central Government
Revanth criticized Kishan Reddy’s tenure as Union Minister, questioning tangible contributions to Hyderabad’s growth. Comparing Hyderabad’s progress to Gujarat’s Sabarmati project, he urged Reddy to bring funds and initiatives from the Centre, promising to felicitate both Kishan Reddy and PM Modi if successful.

Revanth underscored Hyderabad’s real estate growth, reporting a 29% increase in activity from April to November 2023 compared to the previous year, dismissing BRS claims of a market slump.
He highlighted lessons from other Indian cities like Delhi (pollution), Bengaluru (traffic congestion), Mumbai, and Chennai (flooding), advocating for proactive urban planning to avoid similar issues.
Infrastructure Enhancements
Projects launched include initiatives around KBR Park and other areas, focusing on connectivity, green spaces, and sustainable urban infrastructure.

Old City Metro Rail Works to Begin in January 2025

Hyderabad: The Old City Metro Rail project between MG Bus Stand and Chandrayangutta (a 7.5 km stretch) is set to begin preliminary construction by the first week of January 2025, as per Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director (MD), NVS Reddy.

Land Acquisition and Demolition:

The land acquisition process is progressing rapidly, with over 1,100 properties identified for demolition to facilitate road widening and station construction.
Sketches for 800 properties have already been submitted to the District Collector.
Property demolitions will commence in the fourth week of December 2024.

Heritage and Religious Structures:

A total of 103 sensitive structures, including heritage and religious sites, will be preserved through innovative engineering and adjustments in metro pillar and station placements.

Technical and Financial Evaluation:

Proposals for Old City Metro’s Phase-2, including the Detailed Project Report (DPR), Construction Management Plan (CMP), and alternative analyses, are under evaluation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.

Road Widening:

Roads along the Metro corridor will be widened as per the GHMC Master Plan:
- 100 feet width for the main road.
- 120 feet width in areas with Metro stations.
Current road widths:
- 50–60 feet between Darulshifa Junction and Shalibanda Junction.
- 80 feet between Shalibanda Junction and Chandrayangutta.
Affected portions:
- 20–25 feet from Darulshifa to Shalibanda.
- 10 feet from Shalibanda to Chandrayangutta.

Progress and Notifications:

Since August 2024, Metro authorities have issued notifications to property owners whose properties are affected by the project.
