Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has defended the decision to host the Miss World contest in Hyderabad, dismissing opposition criticism and highlighting its economic benefits.
Speaking at Ravindra Bharathi on Thursday, Reddy emphasized that the event would generate “hundreds of crores” in revenue and boost tourism. “Representatives from 140 countries will stay in Telangana for over a month, visiting various tourist destinations. Over 3,000 newspapers and TV channels will cover the event, putting Hyderabad on the global map,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also took a swipe at BRS working president KT Rama Rao, questioning why such events were not brought to Hyderabad in the past decade. Referring to the Formula-E race controversy, he accused the previous government of financial mismanagement.
Reddy asserted that the Miss World event would benefit the hospitality, transport, and tourism industries, ultimately contributing to the state’s economy.
