Haryana: Asif Khan, a gym trainer, from the Mewat district in Haryana, was lynched to death by vigilante groups on Sunday.
According to his relatives, while he was traveling with his cousins from Khalilpur (his home village) to Sohna to get medicines.
A group of 15 stopped the car and attacked the passengers, after being forced to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’, lynched Asif Khan, his friends, Rashid and Wasif were also attacked but survived the attack. Rashid conditions are said to be critical.
His cousins managed to escape and survived, but Asif Khan, was taken to the outskirts of Sohna and allegedly killed, the sources said.
Heavy police placement was seen during the funeral of Asif Khan on Monday. many people expressed anger over the lynching and demanded justice for Asif.
Police claim they’ve arrested six people and booked eight others for murder. The arrests came after Khan’s family and villagers held protests on Sohna highway.
According to the police claim, there were no religious connotations to the crime, instead of calling it a case of “personal enmity. “The two groups fought in the past and have filed police complaints against each other.”
