AIMIM Opposes Old City’s Power Distribution to Adani, No Plan to Privatize Dy CM

Hyderabad: On July 24, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA from Nampally, Mohd Majid Hussain, expressed opposition to the decision of entrusting the Adani Group with the power bill collection in Hyderabad’s Old City. Speaking in the Assembly, Hussain emphasized the party’s stance against the privatization of the power sector, including entities like GENCO, TRANSCO, and other Distribution Companies.

Majid Hussain also urged the Congress government to fulfill all the promises and guarantees made in their manifesto by creating the necessary resources. He pledged AIMIM’s support to the government in securing Telangana’s rightful share of Central resources and ensuring the promises under the AP Reorganization Act are met.

In response to concerns about privatization, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka clarified that there are no plans to privatize power distribution companies in Telangana. He also provided updates on the Gruha Jyoti Scheme, reassuring that eligible families can apply for the scheme at local offices.

Earlier, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had indicated that the Adani Group would take over power distribution in Hyderabad’s Old City, a statement that led to backlash from residents, resulting in confrontations with electricity officials.
